English Language Gematria Systems

English Ordinal: Also known as Simple English Gematria, this is the most straightforward method for applying numerical values to English letters. Each letter is assigned a value equal to its position in the alphabet. 'A' is 1, 'B' is 2, 'C' is 3, all the way to 'Z' which is 26. It's the English equivalent of the Hebrew 'Ordinal Gematria' and Greek 'Isopsephy' systems.

Full Reduction (or Pythagorean Gematria): This system is similar to the English Ordinal, but with an additional step. After assigning the numerical values based on the ordinal positions, any numbers larger than 9 are reduced to a single digit by adding the digits together. This continues until a single-digit number is achieved. So, 'J' (the 10th letter) is 1, 'K' (the 11th letter) is 2, up to 'S' (the 19th letter) which is 1 again, 'T' is 2, and so forth until 'Z', which is 8.

Reverse Ordinal: This system is a mirror reflection of the English Ordinal. Instead of 'A' being 1 and 'Z' being 26, it's reversed, so 'Z' is 1 and 'A' is 26.

Reverse Full Reduction: As the name suggests, this is the Reverse Ordinal system with the Full Reduction step applied. So, 'Z' (first in this reverse system) is 1, 'Y' is 2, up to 'J' which is 1, 'I' is 9, 'H' is 8, and so forth until 'A', which is 8.

These systems are frequently used in English language Gematria studies. Each provides a unique lens to interpret texts and discover hidden meanings or patterns. As an exercise, try calculating the Gematria value of your name, or a familiar English phrase, using these four systems and see how the results vary.

English, Sumerian, Satanic, and Reverse Satanic Gematria

While Gematria is historically associated with the Hebrew language and Jewish mysticism, its principles have been adapted to various other languages and symbolic systems, such as English and Sumerian, and even within the framework of occult practices such as Satanic Gematria. Let's delve into these systems:

English and Sumerian Gematria: These systems are based on the alphabetic order of their respective languages. In English Gematria, for example, 'A' is assigned 1, 'B' is 2, up to 'Z' which is 26. Sumerian Gematria, interestingly, follows a similar pattern, but the values are multiplied by six (so 'A' is 6, 'B' is 12, up to 'Z' which is 156). The multiplication by six possibly derives from the ancient Sumerians' use of a sexagesimal (base 60) number system.

Satanic Gematria: This is a system used within certain occult circles, sometimes for the purpose of encoding hidden meanings in texts or rituals. The basic Satanic Gematria scale was popularized by Aleister Crowley and goes from 'A' = 1 to 'I' = 9, then 'J' = 10 to 'R' = 90, and lastly 'S' = 100 to 'Z' = 800. It is heavily influenced by the Greek Isopsephy and Hebrew Gematria.

Reverse Gematria Systems: These are mirror reflections of the systems mentioned above, where 'Z' is 1 (or 6 in Sumerian), 'Y' is 2 (or 12 in Sumerian), and so forth, with 'A' being 26 (or 156 in Sumerian). Similarly, in Reverse Satanic Gematria, 'Z' is 1 and 'A' is 800. These systems are used to explore the contrast and balance between opposing ideas or forces, a central concept in many mystical and occult traditions.

Each of these systems provides a different lens through which to view texts and derive deeper meanings. As a practice, try applying these different systems to the same text and see how the interpretations may change.
